What is your favorite memory from Huntsville High?: Unfortunately my memory is not the best for remembering specific events. Instead, I remember the people who touched and sometimes changed my life. Primarily teachers, who whether they knew it or not, made quite an impression on me. Mr. Bernie Swanson, new to HHS then, was the best teacher I ever had. He knew how to encourage and motivate. I read books in class that I would have never chosen to read but so glad I did! (He also showed friendship and patience when we would go visiting him and his new bride at their apartment!) Coach Jack Haynes taught me about kindness and compassion when I was struggling in his class, he was always going the extra mile. (He showed patience and turned his head a few times when friends would sneak in lunch from Krystal for me and my friends while he was teaching out of a portable.) And finally Coach Cliff Sims, who taught me Driver's Ed. He modeled humor and forgiveness and even tried to teach me not to take life so serious. This was big of him to do considering I hit the side of his parked truck with my car (off campus)! This was after I had had his Driver's Ed Course and before I turned 16 and had my license! I can laugh about it now! Great Memories from HHS! |

What is your favorite memory from Huntsville High?: Football games on Friday nights. I was never much on football, but I liked hanging out with my friends and watching the band. Now my own son is in the band at Spain Park High school. I plan to be there when we play HHS for SPHS homecoming on October 30th! |
